The Mask Of Your Past Poem by Katheryn Foley

The Mask Of Your Past

Left in the darkness
faced with the challenge of life,
If only you could run away,
feeling betrayed and forgotten,

Yeah the feeling it hurts,
Yeah the feeling is sad,
But the worst part is learning to hide under a mask.
Of shadows and outlined buildings in the horizon,
Show the possibility of survival,

But the coldness your heart feels,
Reminds you to stay in the dark, in the dark,

Yeah the feeling it hurts,
Yeah the feeling is sad,
But the worst part is learning to hide under a mask,
Of the shadows beneath the life in your past.

Everything is different everything has changed,
Not a single breath makes you feel as you were,
The laughs are silenced, Smiles invisible,
All you feel is in your dreams,
unreal in the world around you

Feeling lost inside this world,
Cant hear a word people tell me,
Words in one ear and out the other,
Stuck in the darkest most silent grave,
Dead inside there is no hope.

Yeah the feeling it hurts,
Yeah the feeling is sad,
But the worst part is learning to hide under a mask,
Under a mask of broken dreams.
