The Middle Of The Court Poem by Edward Kofi Louis

The Middle Of The Court

Sinful things!
Cover up your nakedness with the garments and,
Live in peace with your neighbours,
To love everybody without hatred and war.

Illegal lust!
You do not have it because,
You did not ask for it;
So, cover up your nakedness with the garments of peace.

The muse of life!
With a lamp-stand of pure gold;
Following after the laws.

Sinful things!
Like the human bones buried around;
But, she was 16 years old when she became your lover.

Illegal lust!
In the middle of the court;
With the ways of your life as seen in this town.
