The Mind Amok (Part 1) Poem by Nikko Davis

The Mind Amok (Part 1)

Dammit! Here I am again, Alive
Wouldn't know I was unless I was dead before.

(A voice yells for me to quiet down)

No! My mind is already quiet enough, besides silence between thoughts can be so loud sometimes... Do poems have to rhyme?

Hm. Why am I here again? Did I forget not to kill again? Did I Steal again?

Could it have been desire that caused my eternal suffering?

(Hard banging ensues outside of my door)

Hahaha! But to desire not to desire causes you to desire!

Perhaps this is why I'm stuck in the fire.. Six feet under, under six feet, stomped. in. On. Here. Earth. Hell. This place drives me to the illusion of insane. So much to descramble within this puny human brain.

So tired of unlearning all of the things concerning what ought to be learned every life!

Projecting my consciousness from my body every night!

(The knob to the door turns)

Here they go again, right on time... Time.

(The doctor stands between the light of the doorframe)

Time.

(The doctor has seized my arms)

So much time has led to this moment, this purpose..

Perhaps where I am here and now, is just, perfect..

Doctor, before you inject me, may I interject you?

Doctor: What is it Nikko?

What have you learned that you haven't read or been told?

What you have seen, felt, and experienced, all on your own?

(The doctor pauses... Shakes his head and drags me away)

He will stick me with needles to drive me astray but trust me oh doctor! I'll ramble anyway!

(Doctor sticks me with the sleepy needle)

(Doctor doesn't know that it is what I call the waking needle)

(Doctor... Is)
