The Moments Poem by Emmanuel Odei Oduro

The Moments

Our lifetime, truly, a timeline of ticks
Moments of the past, present and pending
Moments whose origin is mystery
Are they God-ordained?
Or by our acts actuated?
The true truth obvious, is
Moments, sweet and sour
Will our life's timeline humbly, host

Jiffies of joy, peace and hope
Moments of means and fitness fine
Flashes of funny funs and golden glees
When all is well and triumph the tone
God is Good becomes the chorus
God is Great the clan's chant
Those are, but, minutes amid the moments
Just passing ritually by
Like their ancestors did and heirs will do

Minutes of misery, fright and mistrust
Ticks of plain poverty and awful anguish

When moaning is the mood as rigour reigns
Why me, God! Flows from the chorale
God where are you? The personal psalm
Other moments amid the many moments
Just rolling routinely by
Like will do, all moments of our life.

One moment, merits mentioning
A moment, markedly unwelcomed
The painful parting period from this earth
But that moment is inevitable
That instant is inescapable
It is the full-stop on our timeline
The termination of our earthly tour
The feared finale of our mortal moments
The crucial closing chapter, of
Our slated sojourn, on Wondrous World.

Enjoy your joyous trice
Tolerate the terrible ticks
Be rapt with the remarkable reality
That our choices inform a crucial choice
The critical choice of where we spent eternity
Our destination from Mother Earth
