The Monster Inside Poem by Dan Barrett

The Monster Inside

Fighting the fear floods the fire with fuel
Dealing with the demon what a dreadful duel
Never-ending narcissism neurotically numbs
Treacherous thoughts trapped under their thumbs
Collared by confusion consciousness
ceases
Poked and prodded to pick up the pieces
Solitude seizes and suppresses the senses
Twisting and turning thoughts till it all tenses
Flagrant feelings forsake and force you to fall
The tainted tongue's tenuous tales are trivial
Deadly defiance depicts dreadful demeanours
Neglecting to notice their nefarious natures
