The Moon Is Us Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

The Moon Is Us

Sweet like tart at the tip of my tongue
Blood at its end with the way you sway
My heart beats faster, it runs
Rattling chains, my bones turn to

I’m in too deep
Even Sleep wishes to be with you
It’s a disaster, I’m at your mercy
Can’t control these strong waves

In this boat, you make me go overboard
I’m scared, but still trying
This is not dissonance
Your slightest noise is my anthem

Drifting off to slumber
Tomorrow grows arms, cradles me
Sequestered in your warmth
The moon is ours, the moon is us
