The Morning After Poem by Morgan Michaels

The Morning After

No one knows what to think or say
everything's over, nothing is done
everything's frozen under the sun
there has never been such a quiet day.

Everything's at that in-between way
sleep from dawn till half past noon
The Senate passed what the House just may
there has never been such a quiet day.

Rare's the car, the buses few
there and here a cab or two
past and future fall away
there has never been such a quiet day.

Wonder who you ought to call
ponder what you ought to say
tell them little, tell them all?
there has never been such a quiet day.

Weh-the shops are closed today
excepting CVS, I mean
think of April, think of green-
never has there been such a quiet day
