The Night Is Over Poem by RIC BASTASA

The Night Is Over

the night was filled with rain
that fell through dawn
it was darker as the stars
and the moon
were kept in the bins
of the loneliness of
space

but nothing lasts forever
a night of storm
calms down in due time
the rain exhausts itself
like the tears of widow
mourning over a love
gone to the other
edge of time

this is our hope for the cocoon
sleep seeds
in time transformed into
full butterflies
of maturity and responsibility
sorrow finally does not overwhelm
death is never an end
