POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
In the initial draft, the second line was so contrived that it had "wheezing lives" instead of "ailing lives", but the alteration was made because Covid-19 does not causing wheezing; it bedevils us with dry coughs.

Haiku (according to someone): I Googled: " The first line of each poem contains five syllables, the second line has seven syllables and the third line contains five syllables" You seem to have accomplished the above very nicely! nemesis: " the inescapable agent of someone's or something's downfall" For sure. to MyPoemList bri :)
