The Old Poets And Poetesses Poem by Francis Duggan

The Old Poets And Poetesses

The old poets and poetesses they were master wordsmiths
Though literary styles have changed much since their time
For all others they are a hard act to follow
Since they mastered the art of penning perfect rhyme.

They may be dead for decades many of them
But in death their legends they have even grown
Their poems at literary gatherings read and recited
And by lovers of literature their works are read and known.

They had a passion of Love, Life and Nature
And in their time they were toast of their town
And it was a love of life they only wrote for
Though they live on in literary renown.

The old poets and poetesses their poems are still living
Though from the land of the living long gone
Their poems their legacy to humankind
And their poems today are living on.
