The One I Love. Poem by Brandon Park

I've dug a hole for myself
I can't get out
You're the only one who can save me
But you're nowhere to be found

I sit here wondering where you are
What you're doing at this very moment
But I will never find out
I have no way of contacting you

I sit here
Weeping in pain
Screaming for help
And crying my eyes out

But suddenly I hear a noise
I look up
And I see you
Smiling

You reach your hand down
And I reach up and grab it
You pull me out
And squeeze me tight

I tell you how happy I am to see you
And you just stand there and stare into my eyes
I stare back
With a smile on my face

We just stare at each other
Getting closer and closer
Until we finally kiss
And it feels like an eternity

We stop
And I tell you how much I love you
How much I want you in my life forever
And how I never want you to leave

And you say you love me too
And you never want me to leave either
How you want me to stay forever
And how you never want anybody else

I walk you home
We get to the door
I kiss you good night and tell you I love you
And you say you love me too

I get in the car
And wave bye
And you wave back
With a smile on your face

I know from that day on
That you will be the one I love
And the only one I love
Forever
