The One You Keep Helping Poem by Ibrahim Enitan Eniola Olubiyi

The One You Keep Helping

Rating: 4.0

'You will never make it', they say.
I made it, but not by my power or might.
My knowledge was worthless.
Wisdow was missing in all.
Yet, you made it possible.
The one you keep helping has come to say,
Thank you, Lord.

'You cannot do it; no one has ever done it.'
'There is nothing special about you.'
'You cannot be different from others.'
Lord, you destroyed the counsel of Aithophel once again.
You proved them all wrong and made the difference for me.
The one you keep helping has come to say,
Thank you, Lord.

Stones thrown
Fiery darts are flying all around.
Arrows on the loose
All aimed at quenching the light.
The light of my life
But the Alabo ni ile goseni ko je
You preserved me and mine, awesome God.
You delivered and set me free.
Like a bird from the snare of a cruel hunter
The one you keep helping has come to say,
Thank you, Lord.

Indeed, you are a fortress.
You are my shield and buckler.
I can say this unapologetically.
I would amount to nothing without you, Lord.
Eni abata ka fi ra atupa,
Ti wa so di agi tana wo!
O gbe ogo fun ole mi.
I duff my cap to you, Arugbo Ojo.
The one you keep helping
has come to say,
Thank you, Lord.

The ladders were broken from inception.
Eyes were missing; there was no vision
The base was nothing but a miry, slippery clay.
Regardless of efforts, sinking was the only result.
Wolves and foxes masquerading as allies
Surviving was a mirage.
Nowhere to run, None to the rescue
Alone, mislabeled, rejected, dejected, and unknown.
Boom! You showed up in my darkness!
You made a way for me in my labyrinth.
You turned my tide around.
You changed my story.
Here I am, standing instead of sinking.
Laughing instead of languishing in sorrow.
All because of you.
The one you keep helping has come to say,
Thank you, Lord.

My light in the darkness
I am grateful for those provisions.
You always showed up, father, even when I was yet to beckon.
Indeed, Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever more.
KABIYESI RE, ELEDUMARE!
Forever indebted to you,
My maker and redeemer!
How can I replay your love and kindness, father?
What will I do without your love?
Life without you is insipidly meaningless.
Empty and angonizing
The one you keep helping has come to say,
Thank you, Lord.
I AM GRATEFUL, LORD!
