The Ones Who Fly Poem by ananya rubayat

The Ones Who Fly

Rating: 5.0

some are just meant to soar,
way beyond the rainy bows,
i wonder about those paper-planes.
and where do the stray kites go?
stuck on some high up tree?
in a hooky branch's embrace?
or do they refuse to stay still
and fly up to a higher place?
when they reach the puffy clouds,
do they find a moment to rest,
or don't they know what rest is,
til the end of that high-up quest?
no matter how you try to bind,
with traps of love, and of peace,
they fly right out of your grasp,
and zoom over the seven seas.
do they head for the milkyway?
do the journeys have a close?
or do they just like to fly..
does any earthbound one know?
dreamers dream of faraway stars,
and make a wish on ones that fall,
but if you want to hold just one,
no meteor will heed your call.
they'll give you one fleeting look,
just before they decide to go,
a glimpse of heaven before the end,
and you'll wait forever more.
like the child that wants the moon,
you look up at sky every night,
searching for those wings you know,
from the deepest deep, a lonely sigh.

Usually long poems lose their oomph somewhere in the middle but this one demands a riveted bolted attention. Excellent meanderings into your recesses of mind
