The Ongoing Struggle Of Genes And Jeans Poem by Chris Haifley

The Ongoing Struggle Of Genes And Jeans

Here we go again, the insecurity delving deep into her throat
As the shame comes pouring out
And the tears, mental tears stream down her face
This day’s emolument paid for the Life
Handed over without any regret

One backwards step inside equals one more leap outside
Hoping, hoping that now her personality and the portrayed “splendor” will match
(Almost there, almost there)
If only their eyes were as blind as their minds
And not based upon the luminously fabricated pictures of the Life
Then maybe, possibly, perhaps, she would be aware of her true worth

Ignorant to the other physical side, her body screams out
And the urge is too much, but this binging won’t be in vain
For now the emptiness is filled and the urge sated
With the effect lasting long after the contents are gone
It’s all mental, mental, mental
If you think it’s there, it’s there

Attracting only the unknowing ones, the ones aware left long ago
But still never leave her but a few taps away, always by her side
…Because everyone knows you never let a friend die alone.
Her mental energy so strong, her sorrow so infectious,
That now more than one is suffering with her.
The other’s blood splattered along the floor
The other’s family wondering the same things
As she taps away, outraged as the other, they can finally agree on the same thing
(It’s not easy being crazy)
