The Other Side Poem by Heather Mains

The Other Side

I was full of love,
enjoyed this life,
It never dawned on me to see the light,
I laughed,
I cried,
had strength inside,
that was then, now I hide,
behind these walls I’m safe and sound,
no one here can tear me down,
say they love me and walk out the door,
I’ll never see that hurt anymore,
now I’m suspicious and cynical, too,
I laugh at people that say “I love you”,
will I ever want to believe?
will someone ever love me?
this side of the wall drains my life,
It’s dark and lonely,
I miss the light.

How many young would-be poets on this sight have been trying to say just that thing. You said it for them all. Still, the answer is not the quest for love. Remember the adage: When you stop chasing fun, you'll find joy. Same with love: stop chasing it and it'll find you. Make a better you and a better life will find you. Now, read mine - Bloom of Youth - Adeline
