The Other Side Poem by Subashini Ravichandran

The Other Side

like a stab into the heart,

a pain that cannot escape,

with pangs watering the wound

it grows by leaps and bounds

slowly seeping into the skin

and swims with the blood

overtaking you like storm

pushing you into darkness

the wound relives the tough times

reminds of the broken heart

floods with unimaginable sorrows

suffocates and threatens to drown

the scars deepen each second,

shaking the world around

as the sand trickles down

darkness blanket gets lighter

after all the ruin and wreckage

a star appears out of nowhere

picking each thorn out,

clearing the broken pieces

it feels like flying high in the sky

focusing on the blurred out beauty

the truth of surviving the scar

brings a surge of hope and joy

mind succeeds to disguise the pain,

but the scars surfacing stay forever

and while the broken are mended,

I become altered forever
