The Panda Poem by Perdita Young (Hanna Wang)

The Panda

A panda is not just a panda, but something more,
Like pearls from the sea that can't be bought.
The rings around its eyes are fit for comedy
And it paces the stage with care, slow but tidy…

By nature it's cute and quiet, a giant cat,
But biology will relate it more to a bear.
Bamboo with leaves is panda's food delight,
And the panda is popular, beyond compare.

Yet, is it happy to be a panda, enjoying care,
And to live alone in parks, with no peer?
Its preference leads to possible extinction,
And its thread of life is dim and wearing thin.

That reminds me of those who shared as much love
For bamboo, and turned out losers in battles of life.

A very thoughtful and informative piece well executed.Panda is one of nature's treasure. And I do agree that it is popular. The concern of being subject to possible extinction must be considered by the authorities concerned. A great write.10
