The Panda And The Beach House Poem by Kewayne Wadley

The Panda And The Beach House

There He sat,
On a small island in his small shack,
He sat in front of a busted A/C looking out the window,
His face was sad although he wore a smile,
His fur radiant with the warm the sun gave,
He'd sigh as he looked out the door at the wreckage of where his plane crashed,
Fire set a roar as heavy smoke circled round the crash,
The wooden chair he made broke as he fell to the floor,
He looked back out the window holding a picture of her,
His Polar Bear,
She'd love nothing more than to coat his fears in the warmth of her fur,
She saught her hopes and dreams,
Not knowing it would land her in the arms of another,
Leaving him forlorn, staring at an igloo he'd grown to love,
They spoke, the moments waited as a next time never occured,
She catered to his whim, as they knew the mishaps that accidents brought,
That night, he slept with his back turned to her for the first time,
She longed for his touch but didn't know the extent of how he hurt, not knowing the ring she gave sat along the ice nightstand,
Morning came,
She extended her arms as she received nothing she expected,
He looked at the counter,
At two sets of key chains,
One held the keys to his car,
The car where he'd sacrifice his time, made sure she made it to work on time and the errands that lead him round and round,
The other held a key to a plane,
A plane to where he could see a future so clear,
A paradise far away from the coldness she provide,
Without a good-bye he snatched the keys to the plane,
Not paying attention to the gas gauge,
He stared out the window,
Sitting there on the floor, in a beach house he built with his paws,
Hating the acts that drove to a haste decision,
Until he saw the lady Koala bear next door standing beside her wrecked plane
