The Path Of A Spirit Poet Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

The Path Of A Spirit Poet

The webbed feet of poetry propelled me further and further into the Light
Consumed by my desire to open the veil of mystery
I ventured towards the deepest parts of consciousness
On the way I learnt the art of consuming silence
The more silence I consumed the more aware I became
I became a spiritual being, totally undressed of my ego
I was naked from my feet to my soul
Only the footprints of my past remained on the sand dunes of my existence
My grasp on reality was sharpened by the ever present beam of Light
Everything was illuminated
Wisdom was served with every meal
Peace was my temple
Hope was my altar
Love was my religion
I was the sacrifice on this altar of existence
And poetry ignited the inner fires
Silence persuaded me to go on
Regardless of my disappearing sanity
I was inside a sacred spell
And my whole being was nothingness
I was emptied of all the constructed reality
And my cup was full of Love
Certainly I was insane
To venture so close to the truth
And like a child to touch the flames of everlasting life
I was foolish enough to open the veil of mystery
And in my foolishness I found my true self
Inside the mirror of existence
I was nothingness
And my spirit was in the house of Light
Love illuminated everything
Love was the way, the truth and the life
