The People In This Wide World Will Not Be Happy With Harsh Words!
O' the girl who wears reverberating bangles made of gold!
The sea swells with the oncoming cool rays of the moon;
But it will not swell with the oncoming hot rays of the sun!
Likewise, the people in this wide world surrounded
by the ocean will not be happy with harsh words for ever,
but - surely will be happy - for the pleasing words!

இருவிகற்ப நேரிசை வெண்பா
இன்சொலால் அன்றி இருநீர் வியன்உலகம்
வன்சொலால் என்றும் மகிழாதே - பொன்செய்
அதிர்வளையாய்! பொங்கா(து) அழல்கதிரால் தண்என்
கதிர்வரவால் பொங்கும் கடல்.18 - நன்னெறி
