The Phone Rings Poem by Annie Mark

The Phone Rings

Casuality...lost in the casual chattiness
As you try to cover the embaressing moments
Following my confessions

Giving up the turkish delight
Of your presence
For the strong coffee of reality

Keeping your voice next to my brainwaves
And trying not to re-think the images
Of curly haired infanthood in my arms

If you pretend nothing happened
How will I experience the loss
And begin to accept it?
