The Pink Camellia Petals Poem by Francis Duggan

The Pink Camellia Petals

On the ground by the camellia tree her flower petals in decay
And birds whistling and chirping on this sunny Spring day
The flowers that bloom in Winter die quickly in the Spring
Even before most young birds have taken to wing.

The pink petals of the camellia flowers lay rotting on the ground
And blackbird searching for slugs and worms keep scattering them around
It is the law of Nature that all things of life must die
Though the wild born birds are singing and the sun shines in the sky.

The pink camellia petals lay by their tree of birth
Their mother tree that one day too will return to Mother Earth
And some birds still nest building and Spring has just begun
And the sparrows on the garden hedge are chirping in the sun.
