The Poets Write Of Christ, Again

writing in silver script on a perishing moon

was more than enough to keep us occupied

though hardly a career move; who cares

we came for other reasons

rechristening the ballads, making the shipwrecks shine

lamenting the kingdom of beauty

has passed; that the kingdom of sadness

may arrive, but the waves repeated themselves

and the skylarks; we dreamed that Beauty was still alive

and awoke in dungeons assured

that Christ was still beside us

all the same

and love to sorrow wed

became His name

magnified in the Ressurection

breaking great doom into

many small pieces

shattering forever the gloom

with heaped up flowers.
