The Political Game Poem by Francis Duggan

The Political Game

The political game is a game of deceit
And honest politicians are as rare as hens teeth
And hens teeth are rarer than rare as we know
In fact it is known that a hen teeth does not grow
Most politicians are decitful and it does seem fair to say
That in politics one could not hope to survive in the honest way
In politics to lie is seen as quite okay
One of the occupations in that dishonesty seems for to pay
In the Chambers of Parliament deceit in the mind games they do play
Where lies are told in their thousands every day
In the so called house of honour deceit it is rife
With the so called honourable it is a way of life
In politics the honest are not destined to lead
It is a strange World that we live in indeed.
