The Pond Poem by Deja Noelle Rupp

The Pond

Rating: 0.5

The suns brilliant light shines down on my pale face
The winter wind nips at my little nose turning my cheeks a rosy red
the cloudless sky soo beautiful, yet deceiving
I’m all bundled up in my hat, my gloves, and scarf
the frost shimmers and glistens on the frozen grass all around me

its magic
I smile

I take a breathe of the chilling air
so deep it hurts my lungs
I exhale as a fog of breathe disperses into the blue sky

Around my waist is my camera bundled up as well in its cozy case
and then
Just then as if a rocket had just been launched into the sky
I exploded to life
my deep blue eyes searching for beauty
the only kind of beauty you have to look for
really search

and I found it
I always do
in the most peculiar of situations
a shrub
a tiny shrub just starting out the journey of life
under the shadow of a huge spectacular tree
it was beautiful

much later on in the day
I head to my very favorite place in the whole world
the pond
its a ways a way and a dangerous trip
but its worth every second of it

the setting golden sun peeks out through the tall trees
making everything gorgeous and just like a dream

the birds swoop down singing a happy melody
making me wish I knew how to sing along

Finally Ohh Finally I arrive
a little tree stump
and its not much
but it once was
a huge tree once stood happily sharing its cool shade to anyone who would sit under it and relax
the crickets are chirping making me feel like I’m not so alone

this is the only place I can really be myself
where I can think, where I can cry
the silence is shattered by the ringing of my phone
its him
this makes me smile
sneak out baby I miss you
he tells me
I cant help but agree
but right now I’m at my place so I say goodbye I’ll see you soon
he tells me he loves me
does he?
I’m not sure
and I’m not sure if I love him
but I like what we have more than anything
so I say it also.
it doesn't take long for the stars to magically appear
decorating the dark bland sky just like sparkling jewels
this makes me feel special
like the stars are out just for me
I know this is not true but its a beautiful thought
its getting late
and after skipping a few rocks on the icy pond
I make my way down the path in the dark woods
all the way to my home
