The Pretensions Of Love.... Poem by RIC BASTASA

The Pretensions Of Love....

and then i kissed you, and
since the reality is too much
for my taking, i then knew
this reason for the closing
of the eyes, for the seeing
of another world,

colored as it is with sunset
and shadows as canvass of this
soul searching for its mate
which have become all too confusing.

and so i hold your arms, and
pulled your hands to settle at the
back, and then for you to feel
my ribs, and waist, and make me
feel what love is, where it is
not there, where it was never there,
where it will never be there
because it is only me who loves you
and you were always never there.
