The Question Poem by Eve Steadman

The Question

Rating: 5.0

he runs
as fast as speed itself
without even a backwards glance
he knows theyre closing in on him
he's running out of breath
its not much longer now
he's nearly at his goal
their hands reach out to grab him
now its critticle
willl this day be his last?
hes nearly got away
he thinks about his home
his family and friends
everything hes left behind
but that is another life
one he shall never live again
his mind snaps back from these thoughts
he realises the path ahead
die now or live a miserable life?
but which one did he choose?
The honest answer is...
I'm digging his grave.
