The Quiet Water
The day was warm and bright
The sky and the horizon
Were brilliant blue
I took my two dogs
A Golden Retriever
And a Rat Terrier
For a long walk.
About three hundred steps
I saw a snake shaped river
Flowing through the middle
Of pastures and meadows
Covered with wildflowers
Its water ran its course
Silently and mysteriously.
My dogs and I got a spot
We took a rest
On the bank of a river
Where we could look and enjoy
Its quietest water
So peaceful and quiet
I could hear a pin drop.
The water was like a mirror
My two dogs have seen their
Reflection in the water
I was looking at the wildflowers
When I noticed a movement
On the surface
Of the quiet water.
My two dogs
Ran after their shadows
I jumped into the river
To save them
But to no avail
The quiet water
Claimed their lives.
The quiet water
Is masked with
Peacefulness and beauty
Yet it is deceitful
And dangerous
That it could take
The very life of you.

An excellently built poem that absorbs us completely, showing us so clearly that destiny is unescapable, no matter how quite our surroundings are. A very well chiseled sculpture first happy then so sad. Quite unfogetttble
