The Rain And Sanity Poem by Ray Hansell

The Rain And Sanity

I feel the drizzle
Of a summer rain
It's so very calming
Maybe I should explain

The warmth of the rain
As it hits my face
I gently close my eyes
I go back to another place

Back when I was a child
I'd stand out in the rain
I'd always wonder to myself
When I'm older, will I play this game

You see, I always loved the rain
As it hit against my face
To me it was a happy time
To be me it was a happy place

No matter where I was
No matter what the day
I'd always get excited
When the rains would come my way

Maybe it was my escape
Or my special way of hiding
I'd spread my arms out like wings
Pretend that I was gliding

I'd to far off places
Places I know I'd never see
But I knew deep inside
The dreams that lived in me

You see when life treats you unkind
Any place is a better place to be
That's exactly where I went
To help me keep my sanity
