So abusive to not even leave a kitten alone
The little one, separated from mum, stuck with you -
Completely, it must think to itself, out of the zone
But you're the most heartless being - you don't care do you?
If you didn't want it, you should've never touched it
Oh I have to realize, the unfortunate ones suffer because of the fortunate
But what you have done is disgraceful - mistreated
Did you ever wonder what goes about in the mind? What it ate?
At the end of the chapter, it's just a poor kitten -
You kicked it every day, not missing a single one
It meowed and meowed but you didn't care less, the injured kitten -
It shook violently and crawled to a piece of bun
I watched it all, from the beginning to the end,
But stood there afraid of even taking a step forward
I was only three and knew how the kitten felt, nobody to defend
Because the same had happened to me before I was kicked out, no word
One day it was when the man went too far,
He got a belt and something I wasn't quite sure of
The buckle fell low, he smirked - came from a bar
He was going to whip the kitten that I'm sure of
The deadly memories made me dizzy
I couldn't stand this horrific sight!
In a minute or two the world would go fizzy
The first thought popped up, don't let it suffer - fight!
I came in the way before the belt came in contact with it
The red mark smeared proudly across my skin
The man seemed terrified and ran away before someone saw it
I knelt down in pain, but happy as the kitten was saved, it licked my skin
That day I had saved a life, the same poor kitten
Who I watched day and night
I cleaned the white fur of the kitten
I hugged it, sat in a corner with it and cried
Beautiful. Truly beautiful. Left me awe struck and wordless.
