The Ride Poem by Marilyn Lott

The Ride

Rating: 5.0

It was a deep and brilliant red
Straight as a road could be
I was driving in the country
Just my car, nature and me

Stopped at Steve’s oil well
Just for a little visit
Thick black gold oozing out
A sight that’s quite exquisite

Kept right on a’goin’
Past windmills whirling fast
Cows kinda scarce it seemed
As empty fields I past

Leanin’ posts and barb wire
As far as I could see
Country air for a country girl
The perfect ride for me

Kind’a sorry the day came to an end
But a warm feeling was in my heart
Think I’ll take another ride tomorrow
And I’ll get an early start!
