The Rising Suns Poem by Edwina Reizer

The Rising Suns

Why do you lament
and why do you cry?
Ours is to try our best
before we die.
To regret at death
what we could have done
negates the rising of every sun.

For we are humans
who do not see
the trials and sins
of our history.
We make excuses
and solemnly swear
to make amends
and offer prayer.

How can we find
the road to peace
that's consolable
and brings release
from mournful times
that bring us pain
and still go on
while we remain?

Second by second
minute by minute
until we are resolute
and live within it.
For our emotional ties
are all the ones
that will remind us
of the rising suns.
