Carolyn Sears (March 30-1950 / Magnolia, Arkansas)
The River Bend
I dreamed of thee in the
Time of “ole”
You called out from
Beneath the river bend
As I closed my eyes in
The eve of the noon
Evening coming,
The river screamed out
In all his intention for
My ears to hear his pain
Moaning, moaning the
River screeched around
The bend..
Rapidly it ran and held
My lover soul in bondage
As I dreamed of thee in the
Time of “ole”
My lover called out beneath
The river bend..
And sadly haunted me in this
Time of “ole”
