The Rose Poem by Mary Flowers Parks

The Rose

God looked down at his new creation,
The world, and saw that it was good,
The trees and lovely flowers,
The mountains so lofty stood.
The flowers all so beautiful,
But none outshone the rest,
God thought for just a moment.
I must have one that's the very best!
One that stands for faith and love,
That carries a message from above,
That you are special my love to me,
My love as sturdy as a redwood tree.
So God though for a moment or two,
This must be special, just for you,
So He right then and there,
Made a lovely rose, a blossom so rare,
To tell of His love, to someone so dear.
It's meant to bring happiness and cheer,
To tell you that you are dearly loved,
Not only by the sender, but by God up above.
