The Rose And The Lily Poem by Elisha De La Rosa

The Rose And The Lily

Delicate rose that brings me sweet sensation, you have given me that ability to breathe,
But woe is me that lay on the grave of my soul is of a lily,
Soft, white, and shy for it grows only to calm the weak and those of sorrow.
The Rose may die but the Lily will be there tomorrow
Both of these flowers are kindred to my soul and give me a wonderful purpose.
But my soul is only a pot with poor soil.
And my love is a fertilizer that can feed them all.
The hearts of the two, I cannot live for.
I must be honest with them and myself.
I am not worth of their love because I am lustful
But I need someone living in my heart.
Here is a place for her to grow
But the choices I don't want to know
May it rain so, may it rain.
It's my funeral that I am preparing for
But I refuse to die
Because I have something worth fighting for
The rose is for the living while the lily is for the dead
Shall I remain in death being in peace and let the lily grow?
Or walk with my heart no longer beating,
But cherish the one beating in the rose's consent.
