The Rose, Token Of Love Poem by Lorena Bonser

The Rose, Token Of Love

Rating: 2.5

She walks slowly to the beach,
With a Rose in her hand,
It is freedom that she seeks
From the haunting mysterious band.

She stands on the shore,
Looking out over the sea,
Remembering times she waited before
Her loves and he's ship to sea.

Where he is no one knows
The sea claimed him for its own.
Oh, wind and waves take the Rose
Over his grave lay and let my life be known.

With a kiss up on the Rose,
She lays it gently in the sea,
Hears the wind whisper, I knew
But my secret forever it will be.

With broken heart, tear filled eyes,
Head bent low, she walks away,
Looks back and waves good bye
Knowing well, this is an unforgettable day.
