The Scar Poem by Kristen Donovan Hutt

The Scar

In the dead of the night
Your smile is a needed sight
But it is my fault you are not here
You’re gone and that was my one fear

I loved you but never showed you
The fog between us I couldn’t break through
I hurt you so much and now I’m alone
The storm was strong, full-blown

I ran around behind your back
I apologized, I always had that knack
But one day I went too far
And now your hurt bears the scar
