The Second Saturday In October Of The Following Year

I awoke at 6: 30AM to darkness, so I sorted photographs and did two loads of laundry.

When the day rose before me, crisp and clear and cool (exactly like you picture an October day to be) , I went out for hot chocolate - 16 ounce, no whip, orange straw - and spent $13.99 at Goodwill.

I meant to light a fire in the hearth and paint my toenails, but instead I waxed the car (a job I might hire out next time) , and mowed the yard after raking up an infinity of leaves.

I spent an hour mangling 'Whiskey Before Breakfast' on the fiddle.

Then the sun set, an orange fireball, surrendering to the sea. And I received an email that made me blush. They both made me feel the exact same way inside.

My sheets are freshly laundered, and so are my pink polka-dot pajamas. And the cat has decided that he wants my pillow... which would be fine, except that my reading light is on that side of the bed.
