The Sin We Love

Every time I sin
I declare that
I love my sin
More than
I love the Lord

Every time I sin
I proclaim
My loyalty to sin
And my disloyalty
To the Lord

Every time I sin
I announce
My honor for my lust
And my dishonor
For the Lord

Every time I sin
I state my regard
For my pleasures
And my disregard
For His Holy Name

We sin the sin we love
For no one ever sins
Against his own lust
Contrary to his desires

poet James Whitcomb Riley

There! little girl; don't cry!
They have broken your doll, I know;
And your tea-set blue,
And your play-house, too,
Are things of the long ago;
