The Smelterman Poem by Stephen Gigney

The Smelterman

Rating: 3.8

The furnaces burning brightly,
the metal all ablaze
Men working in the casting area,
wrapped in a red and steamed heat haze

The sweat that pours profusely,
from hard and honest toil
As more bright molten copper,
is poured against the moulds

Men keep safe,
from stories told
Some men young,
and some men old

And when the day is done,
and weary limbs go home
The pleasure of the open sky,
allows the mind to roam

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

A narrative poem depicting hard and honest toil with dignity in labour of men working in a cooper manufacturing industry. A well articulated piece of poetry, nicely penned with insight. A lovely poem indeed. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
