I travelled far to see a maiden
Born of beauty, face sublime
She took my reason and my senses
All abandoned lost in time
And when we met, by Mother Neva
Holding hands to warm the night
I looked into her starry eyes
To wonder at her and delight
So many things I tried to ask her,
Where she came from, who may know
What does it matter, when I love her,
My lovely Maiden of the Snow
Through the Winter’s storms and torment
She guided me to safety’s reach
I laid my heart bare for her pleasure
And all was given each to each
She showed me the cloudless skies
And buildings towering in the sun
Sleepless nights we lay together
My proud ambition at last undone
And all the time, I thought I knew her
Her mystery hidden in her mind
She painted pictures known in dreams
Invited me to come and find
Tortured by my lust and passion
Driven by the moon and stars
I sought the universe for answers
How could Venus fall to Mars?
Her truth I have, I can rely on
Our love is all we need to know
There are no secrets in her darkness
My lovely Maiden of the Snow
