The Social Distance Waltz, Parts 1,2 And 3 Poem by Alan Sandham

The Social Distance Waltz, Parts 1,2 And 3

Rating: 5.0

1. Love Under Lockdown

May we do the social distance waltz?
Avoiding all my social mischance faults?

Your tiny feet are safe from mine,
My sticky hands away from thine
Waving across the room,
We are doing this by Zoom.

My over-use of shaving lotion
Not wafted to you by my motion,
My bathing in cologne,
Not carried on the phone.

Will you dance, not risking all my usual faults?
May we step up to the Social Distance Waltz?

2. After Lockdown

Or - shift to Social Distance Twist!
Personal exchange is what we've missed:
Slip down to some strange park or garden
And wink across it as we harden
To the virus' dangers,
We'll ignore it! No more will we be strangers
Though you and I may still not touch,
Until, of course, the rules imply as much!

3. After

And yet, yet, we could still zoom together,
Waltz and whisper, va-va-voom together,
Forget the plague and stay indoors,
If you'll be mine and I'll be yours.
