The Song Poem by jenn davis

The Song

Every day I pretend life is ok
I smile a laugh away the pain
But when the day is almost gone
I change into a different form
The smile goes away
The laughter gets dull

And everything I though was ok goes so far away
All I can do now is cry in till every thing is gone
The next day the smiles comes back
The laughter is back so strong
The good time people think I’m having is yet another song

But in this song there is no end
No stopping to the beat
No pause button to make my life complete
No rewind button to fix all my regrets
No stop button to take time and think

This song is about a girl who does not know where to go
A girl who has no one that understands her
She thought she had finally found someone who might understand
But as the song goes one nobody was really there
Her friend just left her like she was trash
She said that she had no more time for this girl

The girl just smiled and laughed away the pain yet again
Her “friend” had no idea what she done to the girl
The girl sat up at night wondering what went wrong
But the song still went on

She found another friend that knew what she was about
This friend was there all day and night
This friend knew just what the girl was going through
The song still goes on

The girl’s old friend has nothing more to say to her
Until her old friend has no one to hold on to
But the girl is scared that she’ll be left alone.
With no stop button to take time to think
She accepts the old friend with open arms

The girl thinks every thing is all right with the world
Both her old friend and her new friend together always
Everything was just all right
Until the girl’s old friend just let’s go
She goes away a leaves the girl again
But she also leaves the girls new friend behind

As the girl and the her new friend talk
They see the song repeating it’s self
They have no pause button to fix this mess
Still no rewind button to never letting the old friend back into her life
The girl regrets ever the old friend back into her life

They set awake at night
Wishing they knew why
Why she just up and left
Why she hates them so bad
Why she does this time and time again

So as the girl sits and pretends that everything is alright with the world
Her old friend thinks nothing of their friendship
And what went wrong
How there is no more words
No more laughter and no more smiles
The girl just sits and dies a little more inside

The song is getting fast and the girl is getting lost
Lost in the world that’s so cold
Lost in this thing called life
Lost in her friendship
The girl does not know what to do
Should she try and make everything better
Or should she just leave it alone?

The girl just sits and waits
Waits for her old friend to come back
Waits for her old friend to say sorry
Waits for her old friend to just give her a reason why
Waits for her old friend to just say goodbye

The girl tries to take it in to her own hand
She tries to fix what went wrong
She tries talking to her old friend
She tries everything she can
But all she seems to be doing is crying

She’s crying because she feels like trash
She’s crying because she wants to know why
She’s crying because she wants this song to end

So every day I pretend life is ok
I smile a laugh away the pain
But when the day is almost gone
I change into a different form
The smile goes away
The laughter gets dull

And everything I though was ok goes so far away
All I can do now is cry in till every thing is gone
The next day the smiles come back
The laughter is back so strong
The good time people think I’m having is yet another song
This song will never end
Until this so called life is over and gone

Tears can dry
Hearts can mend
Cuts can heal
But words can’t disappear
