The Sorrowful Life Of ‘few' Poem by Effiong Effiong

The Sorrowful Life Of ‘few'

Rating: 5.0

As time passes by, their sadness continues to grow.
Their hope begins to vanish.
Their life becomes unbearable.
Their hope for survival begins to diminish.

Change is constant in life; yes it's true.
But ‘change' is a bad omen to ‘few'.
They pray for it not to come;
For they are never lucky enough.
Their change is always a ‘one-way' traffic.
It only drives them through the road of despair.

In life, there are moments of happiness - so they say.
Such moments are fairy-tale to ‘few'.
They yearn for it, but it never comes their way.
They work for it, but they are never rewarded.
They pray for it, yet, miracle never locates their path.

We can make it! They seldom yell with hope.
Whether possible or not; they never know.
For ‘sorrow' is a poisonous pill.
Swallowed only by ‘few'; the less privilege.
The chances of surviving with it are thin.
To survive, they must be strong.
For when they are strong, their sorrows will be things of the past.

An insightful depiction of deplorable life of stagnation in which many people find themselves entangled in, well articulated and nicely penned with conviction. FAITH KEEPS THOSE THAT KEEP THE FAITH - Mother Teresa. Thanks for sharing Effiong. Please read my poem COLOSSAL MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE.
