The Story Of A Boy. Poem by Hailey Marie

The Story Of A Boy.

How can life be so consistent, nothing ever seems to last
Waiting for the sunset so I can tell my calendar the day is past
Another dark black scar across its formerly flawless page
Another day is counted down, another added to my age
Tthe world is a much larger place than I imagined in my youth
I want to leave my story carved inside some lonely phone booth
Whispering emotion through the stories in my rhymes
So that I'm not forgotten swept up in these passing times
Telling of a boy who tried to hard to fill a space inside
Left torn open to leave a scar that would haunt him every night
His youth was spent just passing through not establishing a home
Always leaving friends to start brand new can make you feel so alone
Every time worse than the last until it feels hopeless to even try
It chipped away his self esteem, left spineless when he was nine
Never had an ear to talk to, or an assuring voice to hear
He quickly learned of sarcasm and used it to hide the fear
He became so cold and distant, his heart encased in ice
Losing all his senses yet getting even easier to be enticed
While living in all the conflict taught him to be numb
Never thought as he let go that this is what he would become
A pretty, hollow shell arranging the right words upon a page
Wondering if subconsciously he was taking out all his rage
Everyone he seems to meet say things as if they had rehearsed
The compliments should help him but the effect it is reversed
Not that he cant see beauty and good but notices more of the bad
Someone has to be realistic or think where would it all end at
The world accepts him now so do most of the people around
It's all in his head he's worthless but it has gotten stuck somehow
He dreams of change, a better life, with no idea how to start
Hoping to find a loving flame to help thaw out his heart
To bring the colour back to his eyes and scare away the fear
So he can feel the sun upon his skin and dry cheeks stained with tears
Once I live this happy ending be sure you come to read it through
I'm sure there is another empty unwritten poem that I can squeeze it into.
