The Stranger's Smile Poem by Leah Ayliffe

The Stranger's Smile

Rating: 2.5

Out of nowhere he came
wandering, but not lost
he smiles as though he knows me
as he speaks i see he does
i do not run but become intrigued
of a future, a past, that he has seen
though i am blind to it all

i dream of that smile and wait
wait for his appearance again
a stranger who looks into my eyes
with longing and love
for me? i wonder..
yes for me, but how so?
he walks into my life again & again
surprising me; each moment special
captured within my thoughts
but then almost as soon as he is here,
he is gone;
faded,
dissapeared.

where to, where from?
when will i know,
can time be so twisted to choke love?
yet love is what i've found
in this mystery man who comes and goes
the hours are lonely and silent
wasting my time,
always waiting for him
it seems hopeless, but then his familiar touch calms my fear
and in those stolen moments of love i find truth:

all that i lost in time, i make up in time
stuck in the present with a dream of a strangers smile
who walked out of nowhere and into my life
already knowing of our broken-up love
like a puzzle with the pieces in all the wrong spaces
Still he knows it's our happy times
He knows, he always knows, knew
It's quite simply the matter of,
what choice did i have?

Nothing is sweeter than reconciliation.Life is so great that it takes less and gives more.... Really you had no better choice. Your expression is fantastic: who walked out of nowhere and into my life already knowing of our broken-up love like a puzzle with the pieces in all the wrong spots Well done.
