The Talk I Dream Of Poem by Samuel Braden

The Talk I Dream Of

You leaned in to say something in my ear
It was about your feelings towards me held dear
You told me a secret that you wish I'd share
For me to whisper back in your ear would only be fair…

I should tell you something as well
My heart beats faster with you; can't you tell?
The sound is louder than the clichéd beating drum.
This feeling I will never run away from.

Put your hand on my chest to feel the frantic pace.
The sound is so loud as if I won first in a race.
It beats faster now that you've grown near.
And now that you are here it's in high gear.

Can you hear the words it's yelling out?
I need you in my life throughout,
I'll love you always and forever,
I'll beat with your heart and leave you never.
