The Tearful Night Poem by Victoria Korobochka

The Tearful Night

When you faded away,
My eyes grew thick with water.
When I think about the times we spent together,
Your joyfull smile melts my ice-cold heart,
And the depression.
Your chubby, red cheeks,
Your strong beak,
Your soft and fluffy, cuddly feathers
That keep dropping like the autumn leaves.
My comparison to you is weak.
My salty tears,
My memory of me not wanting to live,
After seeing you fly around
From one spot to another.
Knowing you were lost and shouting out my name,
I tried to shout back,
Believing you could hear,
But also blindly unaware of me.
Why did you have to fly away?
Why leave me tuneless and dusty?
Standing in the mirror,
With my crushed like glass eyes,
Tears like frozen ice,
Leaving marks down my cheeks.
I'm all alone and tired,
While you are out of sight.
Though, if this is what you want,
If you're in desperate need of freedom,
Take what you need and fly away,
But please, do not forget me...
