The Treasure Poem by Wally Gardiner

The Treasure

How can I truly surrender
the feelings I wish to convey
How do I describe these emotions
What choice of words can I say?

Time has no meaning when I think of you
You are the future, the present, the past
You are the key that unlocks all my doors
You are the first, you shall be the last

You are the fire of passion burning inside
A flame so hard to resist
You are love, trust, hope and compassion
you are the reason these feelings exists

You are the beauty of the sunset
Descending upon a tropical shore
You are the majesty of a mountain crest
the promise of a rainbow after the storm

You are the beacon upon the horizon
Guiding me through a moonless night
Always just beyond my grasp
But always within my sight

You are the innocence of the springtime
the warmth of a summer night
the wonder of a chilled autumn morning
the object of my wintry delight

You are the dream I fall asleep with
You are the vision when I'm awake
You are the memory I always cherish
And the desire that makes my heart ache

The wealth of the world awaits
For those who travel and make their due
But I need only to close my eyes
To see that the greatest treasure is really you
