The Trophy Wife Poem by Lorenzo Costigliolo

The Trophy Wife

Rating: 5.0

Statuesque
quaint roses, daily calls
love notes, sly looks
bright eyes, flashing lashes
wet lips, tasty balm
soft kisses, twinkling stars
moon light, knight’s charm
falling rain, colored bows,
rainbows, oh, promises
pretty things, diamond rings
thin fingers, long arms
bulging breasts, thin waist,
taut sinews, firm lines,
baubles and bangles
dangling bracelets
wrists and ankles

Wife
Until day by day
dead roses, no calls,
business notes, dry looks
dulled eyes, drooping lashes,
cracked lips, tasteless balm,
hard kisses, fallen stars,
ignored moon, knight’s gone,
drenching rain, wrinkled bows,
rainbows with no golden ends,
ugly things, tarnished rings,
fat fingers, flabby arms,
sagging breasts, folded waist,
snapped sinews, wavy lines,
bubbles and dangles,
tarnished bracelets
wrists and ankles
bone bare

I really like how this piece takes shape...LOL...on the page and as a read. Your readers see a vibrant lush exotic bloom wither wilt away. well done

The structure is wonderful the alliteration and rhythm sublime truly amazing work very deep calls for a second and third read baubles to bubbles absolutely incredible imagery flows so well that the read is fast and snip which at first is a perfect feel for the 'surface only' theme the words fall quickly like rain off a roof sound as hard and then the reader stops and thinks and only on the reread grasps. That is the true art of poetry poet poet you
